The Slam come to the IBL after two seasons in the ABA, where they compiled a 44-26 record, including trips to the quarterfinals (’05-’06) and semifinals (’06-’07) in the playoffs. Bellingham is coached by Rob Ridnour, father of the Seattle Supersonics guard Luke Ridnour. The Slam had a terrific inaugural IBL season, clinching the top seed in the West Division where they went on to win the west. Update: Friday, July 18- IBL 2008 Championship (Game 207)- Elkhart (111) at Bellingham (118)- the Bellingham Slam beat the Elkhart Express for the IBL 2008 Championship in front of a sold out Whatcom Pavillion in Bellingham Washington. Reserves Tyler Amaya and Paul Hafford shared co-MVP honors. Amaya's 20 points, 13 rebounds and defensive efforts combined with Hafford's 30 points off of the bench were the spark that Bellingham needed to overcome a slow start (down 22-8 midway through the first quarter)- box score and story |
